"Turkey Under Erdogan: From NATO Ally to Pariah State"
On 5 December 2017, the Centre for Kurdish Progress will be joined by David L. Phillips in the House of Commons to discuss Turkey's recent changes. Mr Phillips will consider the early successes of Turkey's governing Justice and Development Party (AKP) and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. It will evaluate setbacks since 2013, including security, human rights, and economic challenges. U.S. policy towards Turkey will be assessed, including recent bilateral problems. Trump's rhetoric and positions will be considered, demonstrating Washington's shifting approach to Turkey and growing distrust of Erdogan.
We hope you can join us at this public forum on 5th December between 7 and 9 pm in House of Commons Committee Room 9. The event will be kindly hosted and chaired by the Rt Hon George Howarth MP. Please arrive at 6.30 pm to allow time for security checks.
