Public Forum ‘Kurdistan Independence Referendum in Iraq and the Future of Mosul after DAESH'
PLEASE NOTE: UNFORTUNATELY, WE HAVE HAD TO POSTPONE THIS EVENT.
You are cordially invited to a Centre for Kurdish Progress Public Forum with Mr Mustafa Karim, an Erbil (Hawler) based correspondent for TRT.
The event will take place in the Diskus Room of Unite the Union on 17th October 2017 between 6.30pm and 8pm. (Unite the Union, Unite House, 128 Theobald's Road, Holborn, London, WC1X 8TN.)
Kurdish Peshmerga fighters have been a key partner in the US led alliance against DAESH (Islamic State - ISIS) in Iraq since the radical jihadi group swept across the country in 2014. Now, after the fall of the group's capital in Mosul, a post-DAESH Iraq is beginning to take shape, with growing questions about the future of the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG), which has called for a referendum on independence for the 25th of September 2017.
The referendum will include territories such as Kirkuk and the towns of Makhmour, Khanaqin, and Sinjar, which were liberated from DAESH by the Peshmerga, but over which both the KRG and the central Iraqi government maintain a claim.
In this public forum, experienced journalist Mr Karim will discuss these developments, with a focus on the referendum result and the future of Mosul after DAESH.
